An innovative, creative and charitable individual, Jin Zuo, affectionately known as Mr. Left is renowned for his contemporary oil and acrylic paintings on canvas and his efforts desire to give back to the community.  Born in Hebei in 1968 now based in Toronto, Zuo has created his own style of painting, known as ‘feelism’, merging his feelings into his paintings to create artwork that is unrestricted by the physical world. With decades of experience as an artist and in engaging in charitable work, Mr. Left has received numerous awards and achievements.  His most note-worthy include being acknowledged as one of the top ten most charitable artists in China, his oil canvas ‘Barcode’ being selected to be placed on exhibition at the Carrousel in Louvre in Paris, and his artwork being collected by the Olympic committee. Now residing in Canada, Mr. Left continues to express his feelings through creating breathtaking, unrestricted artwork, while actively seeking to help the underprivileged.

A prominent artist, Mr. Left has been active in the art and design industry for over three decades.  Accepted into the China Central Academy of Arts, China’s most prestigious art institution, over the last 30 years Mr. Left has studied animations under Prof. Ou Xiao, under Mr. Jingyang Mi at the Studio of Glorious Treasures for Art Management and Collections, and under renowned artist Mr. Pingxi Jia. Winning his first national award for his paintings at just 18 years of age. Over the course of his career, Mr. Left has painted landscapes and portraits and both examined and explored symbols and metaphors in his work.  Applying his personality, life experiences and feelings into his artwork, experimenting with new styles and techniques, his work has become highly acclaimed by art lovers in China and internationally, with dozens of his pieces collected and published by art associations, art institutes and magazines.

The impression Mr. Left leaves on those that view his artwork is long-lasting and acts as a reminder that life is limitless, natural beauty surrounds us and it is not constrained.   Mr. Left’s paintings show us how he sees the world, what it looks like in his imagination, his paintings are a window into his soul. His work is highly regarded by other artists and critics. Yongbai Tao, one of the most renowned art critics in China, has remarked: “...Zuo does not paint according to pictures, his paintings are never constrained, he paints the world as it appears in his mind. The tone of his paintings vary with his mood, while some of his paintings are very quiet and peaceful, such as grey toned snows or lotus ponds, others are strong and vivid, with bold colors that deliver a passion and energy for life." Wei Bai, Assistant Professor from Peking University School of Arts, commented: “reading Mr. Left's paintings provokes the deepest feeling of an unrestrained world and a gentleness. His paintings include beautiful natural views, as well as real people, while every painting is full of idealness, which leaves you feeling forever fresh and pretty."

Alongside creating his spectacular artwork, Mr. Left has been actively giving back to the community, wanting to make a positive impact upon his community.  Now known as one of the top 10 most charitable artists in China, Mr. Left has donated numerous pieces of artwork to charity auctions over the course of 15 years, helping thousands of children from poor and underprivileged families, to attain a good education. Furthermore, following the devastating earthquake in Wenchuan, China, in 2008, Mr. Left donated the proceeds from 100 of his paintings, totaling ~USD$1M, to the affected cities.
